Emily (She/Her) is an artist from the Baltimore and Carroll County area who began her education at Towson University, earning her Bachelor’s of Science in the field of Psychology. Emily decided to follow her passions about the creative human psyche by furthering her education at Notre Dame of Maryland University and earning her Master’s of Fine Arts in Art Therapy.
As an art therapist, Emily has a valuable and unique skill set to share with the community. Emily describes art therapy as a form of psychotherapy that focuses on participation in different creative processes to foster holistic wellness. Her approach to art therapy stems from a trauma informed, person-centered, strengths- based theoretical perspective that highlights the unique nature of each individual participating. Emily provides clients with empathy and unconditional positive regard within a safe environment to help facilitate change while offering support, guidance, and structure to assist clients with discovering personalized solutions within themselves. Emily uses art therapy assessments to assess client strengths; gain a deeper understanding of the client’s presenting problems; help determine an individual’s level of functioning; formulate treatment objectives; and to evaluate client progress. Emily believes that artistic expression can help clients understand their emotional conflicts, reduce anxiety, and can aid in the restoration of healthy functioning. Emily has experience working with diverse populations through community-based services and welcomes any person who resonates with creative or expressive intervention. Emily also enjoys working with the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals who identify as neurodivergent. Email: [email protected] Phone: 443-961-4821 https://doxy.me/artwithemily |
