Lauren is a LGPC and LGPAT (Art Therapist) working under the supervision of Elizabeth Higdon, LCSW-C.
A native of Maryland, Lauren earned her Bachelor’s degree from McDaniel College, majoring in Fine Arts. Lauren’s own healing journey through the arts prompted her to further her education and passion by earning her Master’s of Arts in Art Therapy at The George Washington University. In addition to her art therapy degree, Lauren has specialized training in trauma-informed treatment. Art therapy is a unique practice that allows individuals to engage the mind, body and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal articulation alone. Through the creative process, clients are able to bypass barriers that can be present in verbal processing and give a voice to their experience without judgement. Lauren encourages creative expression and reflection in her sessions to help clients explore, process, empower and strengthen their relationship with themselves. Lauren provides clients with an authentic and safe therapeutic space and enjoys working with individuals of all ages. As every client is unique, Lauren incorporates a variety of modalities and theories to meet the needs of each individual. Her training in trauma theory and experience of working with emotionally distressed individuals supports her belief of the innate tendency of trauma survivors to be resilient. Lauren has experience working with both adults and children in a wide range of settings and across various levels of care including, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitalization programs, school-based programs, and community services. She welcomes any person who resonates with a holistic approach and the expressive arts modality. Email: LaurenParks.ArtTherapy@gmail.com Phone: (202) 505-2088 https://doxy.me/laurenparksarttherapy |
