Michaelanne is under the supervision of Jessica Ryan, LCSW-C.
Michelanne is an EMDR Trained Art Therapist licensed to practice in the state of Maryland. Through her clinical work, she provides creative therapeutic opportunities for individuals and groups to progress toward mutual healing and growth. Michaelanne connects easily with folks where they are and explores ways to journey together toward shared vision and purpose. Born and raised in rural West Virginia, Michaelanne experienced “making” as a part of daily life for purposes of utility, for self and communal regulation, for extending care towards a neighbor, and for the simple joy that accompanies it. She graduated from Messiah University with a degree in Theater and subsequently worked as a Scenic and Community Artist for over 20 years. Seeking to deepen her understanding of the connection between human interplay with art materials and psychological exploration and healing, she studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, graduating with distinction in 2023 with a Masters of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creativity Development. Michaelanne’s clinical experience includes working with adults, adolescents and children in various settings including an inpatient psychiatric hospital, an eating disorder residential treatment center, a child advocacy center supporting victims of abuse and human trafficking, and the private practice setting. She believes all meaningful healing work happens in the context of therapeutic relationships. Using EMDR treatment interventions, exploration with art materials, and effective principles from DBT and CBT, she works collaboratively with her clients to develop their treatment goals and determine the course and shape of their therapeutic exploration. Michaelanne believes that each individual is the expert of their own journey and her work is to hold space, providing insightful support for folks as they pursue healing and integrated wholeness. In addition to her work with Anchor, Michaelanne also provides therapy at Jane’s Place, a nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center in Western Maryland where she resides with her husband and two children.
