Patricia comes to the profession of counseling after years of experience as a lawyer, nonprofit executive director, and Buddhist meditation teacher and practitioner. A native of Maryland and a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a JD from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. Her Master’s in Counseling Psychology is from Yorkville University in New Brunswick, Canada, and included a deep immersion in grief counseling with the Chesapeake Life Center in Maryland.

Patricia’s counseling style is person-centered and strengths-focused, with an emphasis on the importance of a safe, respectful, and trusting relationship between herself and her clients. Her approach is grounded in mindfulness and existential theory and utilizes narrative techniques, CBT, DBT, and other modalities to help clients process and understand their mental health challenges and gain insight and motivation to live their best lives. She considers clients to be the experts of their own lives, and she will work collaboratively with you to uncover and address old patterns that continue to influence your self-narrative and world view.

​Being able to talk with a counselor in a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental setting is essential to healing and strengthening one’s mental and physical well-being. Life is full of constant change and loss, as well as achievements and victories, and it takes courage to face our fears and vulnerabilities. Patricia’s primary aim is to help support your journey toward greater authenticity and more effective and joyful living.
