Information and FAQ's
Are you accepting new patients? What does waiting list mean?
When the demand for mental health is high, we may have a waiting list for new patients. This means that while we are accepting new patients, it may be a 2-3 month wait before we can get you scheduled with a provider.
What insurances do you accept?
We are in network with most commercial plans. This includes: Cigna, BlueCross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Johns Hopkins EHP (Employer Health Program), Johns Hopkins US Family Health Plan, Tricare, and UPMC (in the Cumberland Office only). We are not currently able to take new Medical Assistance, Tricare, or Aetna patients at this time.
How do I know my copay?
Once an appointment is scheduled, we can verify your benefits and let you know your copay or deductible prior to the appointment. If you’d like to know prior to this, you can contact your insurance provider and ask for the patient responsibility for Outpatient Professional Mental Health Services (office based).
How do I know if I’ve met my deductible?
While some providers allow us to see your remaining deductible when we pre-verify benefits, the best way to get an accurate answer is to contact your insurance provider directly.
How long are sessions?
Intake sessions are typically 55-60 minutes long. All other sessions range from 45-55 minutes. Details of the length of sessions can be discussed with your individual provider.
Do parents need to be present for children's sessions?
We believe that parents are important to their children’s therapeutic success and ask that you be involved, as much as is appropriate for your child. This includes being present for part of the intake session, as well as being available for periodic check-ins with the therapist to provide feedback and progress reports. The frequency of this will depend on the child’s age and needs.
Do you offer free consultations?
We do our best to fit you with the most appropriate provider before we even schedule you. We do not offer free consultations, however if after the initial intake you or the therapist feel that it is not a good fit, we will help you find another provider.
Do you offer both telehealth and in person appointments?
At this time, the majority of providers are providing therapy via telehealth. However, many are slowly returning to the office over the next few months. Because each provider is making the decision based on their comfort level, we do not have a set date for in office appointments.
What is telehealth? Is it covered by my insurance?
Telehealth is therapy provided through a secure video platform. All of our telehealth appointments are provided through secure, HIPAA compliant platforms that maintain confidentiality and privacy. All insurance providers cover video telehealth appointments.
Can I schedule a medication appointment without a therapist?
We believe that therapy is an important part of mental health and require that all patients receiving medication management through our practice be connected to a therapist as well.
