Information and FAQ's
Are you accepting new patients? What does a waiting list mean?
When the demand for mental health services is high, we may have a Waiting List for new patients. This means that while we are accepting new patients, you may experience a 2-3 month wait before being scheduled with a provider.
What insurances do you accept?
We are in-network with most commercial plans. This includes: Cigna, BlueCross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Johns Hopkins EHP (Employer Health Program), Johns Hopkins USFHP (US Family Health Plan), and UPMC (in the Cumberland Office only). We are currently unable to accept new Medical Assistance, Tricare, or Aetna patients.
How do I know my copay?
Once an appointment is scheduled, we can verify your benefits and inform you of your copay or deductible amount before the appointment. If you’d like to know this in advance, you can contact your insurance provider and ask about the patient's responsibility for Outpatient Professional Mental Health Services (office-based).
How do I know if I’ve met my deductible?
While some providers allow us to view your remaining deductible when we pre-verify benefits, the most accurate way to obtain this information is to contact your insurance provider directly.
How long are sessions?
Intake sessions are typically 55 to 60 minutes long. All other sessions range from 45 to 55 minutes. Details of the length of sessions can be discussed with your individual provider.
Do parents need to be present for children's sessions?
We believe that parents are essential to their children’s therapeutic success and ask that you be involved, to the extent that is appropriate for your child. This includes being present for part of the intake session, as well as being available for periodic check-ins with the therapist to provide feedback and progress reports. The frequency of this will depend on the child’s age and needs.
Do you offer free consultations?
We do our best to match you with the most suitable provider before scheduling your appointment. We do not offer free consultations; however, if, after the initial intake, you or the therapist feel that it is not a good fit, we will help you find another provider.
Do you offer both telehealth and in-person appointments?
Currently, the majority of providers offer therapy via telehealth. However, many are returning to the office over the next few months. Since each provider makes the decision based on their comfort level, we do not have a set date for in-office appointments.
What is telehealth? Does my insurance cover it?
Telehealth is therapy provided through a secure video platform. All of our telehealth appointments are provided through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms that maintain confidentiality and privacy. All insurance providers cover video telehealth appointments.
Can I schedule a medication appointment without a therapist?
We believe that therapy is an essential part of mental health and require that all patients receiving medication management through our practice be connected to a therapist as well.
